Dog Adoption Process

1. Adoption Application 

To begin the process, prospective adopters must complete our online adoption application. 

2. Application Review + Background Screening

Our team carefully reviews each application to ensure a great match between the pet and adopter. We also conduct a basic background check and you will receive an invitation from Checkr seperately to fill out that information. 

3. Home Check

As part of our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our animals, a home check is required prior to adoption approval. This may be done in person or virtually, depending on location and availability.

4. Schedule Meet & Greet

We schedule a meet and greet between the adopter and the animal(s) of interest. This helps determine compatibility and allows everyone to ask questions before proceeding. many times this can be done at the same time as the home check.

5. Two Week Adoption Trial

If the meet and greet goes well and the adopter chooses to move forward, they will sign a two week trial agreement and pay the adoption fee at that point. The pet will stay with them through the two weeks in order for them to have time to adjust and ensure they are the right fit. Should the pet not work out during the trial, they will be returned to their foster and the adoption fee refunded. 

6. Adoption Decision 

At the end of the two week trial, the adopter would then decide if they would like to make it official and sign the adoption contract at that point.
